Quantum world for everyone!

Overview

A six-minute image video is now available with both German and English subtitles on the YouTube channel of the Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat – Complexity and Topology in Quantum Matter. This makes it easier to access the mysterious quantum world and shows what researchers are actually working on in their high-performance laboratories. A fascinating fact: Cluster physicist Laurens Mohlenkamp describes how he demonstrated the first topological quantum material in 2007 – a scientific revolution and a defining moment for topological quantum physics!

In high-performance labs, scientists of ct.qmat perform research on topological quantum materials that reveal surprising phenomena under extreme conditions such as ultra-low temperature, extremely high pressure, or strong magnetic field. Making these special properties usable under everyday conditions will be the basis for revolutionary quantum chips and new types of technical applications.

The Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat – Complexity and Topology in Quantum Matter is a scientific cooperation between the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and the Technische Universität Dresden, closely linked to the top-level research of five renowned extra-mural research institutes. The Cluster has been funded within the Excellence Strategy of the federal and state governments since 2019.
