Introduction speech Unconscious bias: Why we are all biased: Unconscious biases are patterns of thought and perception that are difficult to control on purpose. As clichés and stereotypes, they have a distorting effect on our judgments, our decision-making and ultimately on our actions - often unintentionally. Do we decide rationally or intuitively? Our brain is capable of both, but usually prefers the resource-saving solution. In the introductory speech, we will clarify in which situations prejudiced decisions creep in and which strategies there are to avoid them.

In the workshop Unconscious bias, we would like to use typical situations to discuss common gender stereotypes and behavioral clichés in the university context and develop perspectives and paths to more diversity, gender-sensitive communication strategies and a modern work culture in science together with you. The goal of the workshop is to raise awareness of prevailing stereotypes and common communication traps and to show how we can help shape and change outdated behavioral patterns in a self-determined way.

Workshop Public speaking and body language: Successful speeches and successful conversation are not products of chance. Rather, they are the result of comprehensible speaking, a convincing voice, clear expression, and appropriate body language. In this workshop you will learn methods to present your concerns convincingly. The focus will be on presentable and confident appearance, body language, exercises from professional theater, breathing training, strengthening the voice, shaping unstrained speech, effect of speech. The main objective is to learn how to perceive and use body language, appear and perform self-confidently, enhance 'self-awareness'; use the voice effectively, breath correctly, speak without strained voice.
